to refine Personnel Security Processes
SPAWAR Systems Center Atlantic is
seeking Subject Matter Experts to inform efforts within the
Federal Government to refine personnel security processes.
Specifically, this effort aims to inform the policies
governing the evaluation of individuals for eligibility to
access classified information. SPAWAR Atlantic is
reaching out to experts for input on the scientific
underpinnings in several areas relevant to these policies.
The areas include:
-
Organizational commitment and
counter-productive work behaviors
-
Mental health, including:
personality disorders, alcohol/substance use and abuse,
addictive behaviors, paraphilias, and combat-related
stress reactions
-
Credit reporting and risk, credit
counseling, as well as illegal financial activities
including embezzlement, fraud and tax evasion
-
Normative and deviant computer
behavior, illegal or unauthorized Information Technology
activities, and Information Technology security
-
Criminal recidivism, alcohol and
drug related crime
-

acculturation, immigration, and social identity
SPAWAR Systems Center Atlantic and
Intelligence Community partners will hold several one-day
focus groups with SMEs towards gaining a more informed
understanding of the impact of these factors for security.
Information gained from these focus groups may support
updates to the existing policy, or be used to improve the
application of current policies. The overall aim is to
ensure that policies and practices are consistent with the
current scientific understanding of relevant areas.
Honorarium or travel expenses may be
provided on a limited basis. Interested researchers,
